This question is probably answered on the site somewhere. Why was episode 3 of the TV series skipped?

At the time in Japan there were some massive earthquakes in which many people died, in deference to the deceased they skipped the episode where there was an earhquake. Just as in america after 9/11 all movies showing the 2 towers were edited

Thread locked. This question has been beaten to death. It's even on the forum. It was on the news page, but I think it got bumped off. Here's a link to the thread: http://www.froth-bite.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=482

I just saw another development in this topic, and it is not a good one. According to the DVD volume 2 release information on Amazon.co.jp, this volume will only contain episodes 2 & 4, and not episode 3. Yomiuri TV is still considering airing episode 3 at some point, and the DVD release of this episode will happen only after it is aired on TV. So it looks like it will be quite a while we get to see episode 3.

I've broken this news to the IRC channel, and to our staff. But I believe I haven't mentioned this news to the forum goers yet, so here it is. According to the Yomiuri TV's Black Jack home page ( http://www.ytv.co.jp/bj/ ), they are planning to air two unaired episode on Monday, July 17th, if the baseball game is cancelled due to weather. Normally, the rainy season ends in Japan around July 20th. July 17th is at the clear end of the rainy season, so we have a so-so chance of seeing these episodes soon. They have not specified any plan on airing these episodes if the baseball game is aired instead -- we'll go in to another indefinite waiting mode. First of the two unaired episode is, as you might expect, the Karte 3, the story of how Pinoco and BJ met Largo. The other episode is just another independent episode which never made to the regular Black Jack slot. Maybe they'll call this Karte 62. If they DO air those two episodes, my intention is to get Karte 3 as soon as possible, but hold off Karte 62 until we're done with the rest of the series. I think many of you are interested in other kartes, such as karte 44, birth of Pinoco.

Update: I just checked the weather. As of 1:30PM in Japan, it is raining pretty hard. The baseball game will likely be cancelled, and they will most likely air episode 3 and another unaired episode.
Stay tuned!
Update2: The game is officially cancelled. We'll see the classic BJ tonight.

Yes, the episode that was supposed to be Karte 03 aired. But it's no longer tagged as Karte 03. We haven't quite figured out how we'll handle the release yet. But if you see us release Black Jack Special, that would be this one.

Finally, the wait is over. The Lost Episode special that we just released contains that Karte 3. Grab your copy while it's still hot!

We're getting spoiled with BJ releases! O_O Is there also the new opening? As far as I remember one of the two episodes was a "new" one.

Ah yes, the infamous Episode 3 which got cancelled.
I managed to catch it on TV while expecting Black Jack 21 while I was staying in Japan for studies along with an extra Karte which aired right after it. XP
